Blog Post #4: AI impacting my future

As a sports media major, I do believe AI will have an impact on my future job, and the amount of jobs there will be. AI is already very enhanced, and will only continue to develop in the coming years. AI is definitely not my favorite thing in the world, as I do believe it is taking jobs from people who are fully capable of doing the same job, maybe even doing it better. I am nervous that AI will continue to develop and start to take more and more jobs. Although AI does have some useful tools that could benefit my future profession, it could also take away some of the most important parts.

AI could start to edit highlight reels of players which is what I want to be a part of, as it is what I enjoy most about my major. Although AI already does have a role in sports, like calling plays quickly, an making graphics for games, I do believe that AI is taking away jobs from people that want that to be their role. I think that we should continue to let the people who want to do that as their job do it, before we bring AI into the equation.

Blog Post #3: Privacy Ted Talks

After listening to all of the ted talks, my life definitely does not feel as private as it did before. The talk about phone tapping was definitely scary and made me feel like I need to lookout for my own privacy more than I already do.

People can find out a lot from just one social media post. Someone can find out your age, your name, your hometown, and even where you go to school just based off of a social media profile, and that is very scary to me. This also makes me think about when parents post their children on social media, someone could find out a lot of information about that child, and not always have good intentions behind it.

There are many ways a persons privacy can be disrupted. From an online post, their phone being hacked, someone seeing them driving out in public, and even just a food delivery. I have my own car and a license, and the thought of someone seeing me driving in public and knowing it is me by my car, definitely makes me feel uneasy.

I feel as though the government should be doing more about online privacy because the amount of people getting hacked online or getting spam texts are getting out of control in my opinion. They could do more to monitor the online safety of society, and make sure that these texts and calls do not keep scamming innocent people.

Blog post #2: Eight Values of Free Expression

The Eight Values of Free Expression are:

1. Marketplace of ideas

2. Participation in Self-Government

3. Individual Self-Fulfillment

4. Check on Government Power

5. Stable Change

6. Development of Knowledge & Understanding

7. Promotion of Diversity and Inclusion

8. Protection of Fundamental Human Rights

For me personally, individual self-fulfillment is the one that resonates with me most. This resonates with me most because it allows a person to be who they truly are, and express themselves however they feel. Individual self-fulfillment is defined as the achievement of one's personal potential, desires, and goals. On the other hand, self-fulfillment also includes these characteristics but also needs validation from others.

I feel that most people focus on self-fulfillment rather than individual self-fulfillment because they require validation from others. Although I do sometimes require validation from others in order to make certain decisions, I do like to focus on individual self-fulfillment too. I like to make my own decisions without input from others sometimes and work toward my individual goals. I like to pick what music to listen too even if it is not other peoples first choice. Although other individuals input on my decisions can change my decision sometimes, I try my best not too let it change my decisions most of the time, so I can focus on myself and myself only.

Individual self-fulfillment is something I believe most people my age struggle with nowadays, because

most people need input from others in order to make a decision. I think that these individuals should try and start to make their own decisions, and not rely so heavily on others to help them make their decisions, so they can grow towards their goals. Having others input on your decisions can take a toll on mental health, as an individual can start to feel like they cannot make any decision on their own. Individuals can also take inspiration from their peers and try to live up to that, even if it is not what they want to do.

To conclude, I believe that everyone should try to focus on indivudal self-fulfillment as much as they can, without making it too overwhelming. I believe this would not only be beneficial for them, but for others around them.
